“La Mujer Universal” Scholarship – Deadline March 15, 2022

Description:

"La Mujer Universal" Scholarship is designed to assist a graduating high school, self-identifying woman on their journey to obtain a college degree. La Mujer Universal (The Universal Woman) is a symbol for women across the world. It represents a woman who is a trailblazer; one who constantly seeks opportunities to pave the way for others all while being courageous, tenacious, and kind. This scholarship is intended to help a woman who comes from an impoverished, low-resourced and/or historically underrepresented, marginalized community. The scholarship is available on a competitive basis.

 

Award:

$500 will be awarded to one applicant based on their relative need and the degree to which they represent the qualities of La Mujer Universal.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a self-identifying woman
  • Attend a public high school in the state of Georgia
  • Possess a minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for high school students
  • Matriculate at a U.S. two or four-year accredited college or university or a vocational/technical school for the 2022-2023 academic year.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA)
  • Have demonstrated qualities of La Mujer Universal

    Kimberley Chance Atkins Foundation Healthcare Scholarship – Deadline March 18, 2022

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a Rockdale or Newton County resident and student
  • Demonstrated community service in Rockdale or Newton County
  • Anticipating completion of a high school diploma at the time of application with a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Plans to pursue post-secondary education in the healthcare field in an eligible degree or certificate program at an accredited institution

    Note: The $2,000 scholarship will be paid directly to the college or university.

    To apply, you must follow these steps:

  • Complete the application. Applicants can apply now. Final applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, March 18, 2022.
  • Include with the application a narrative describing how your education, classes, and personal experiences have influenced you to pursue a career in the healthcare field. (Maximum 500 words)
  • Include a copy of current official high school transcript (If selected, applicant must provide a copy of final transcripts certificate to demonstrate eligibility for post-secondary enrollment.)
  • Provide two letters of recommendation – one must be from teacher and the other from an employer, community service/volunteer coordinator, pastor or other personal reference.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Lambda Sigma Sigma Alumnae Chapter Scholarship – Deadline March 18, 2022

Available Scholarships:

One - (1) $1,000 scholarship within our service area Henry, Rockdale, and Fayette Counties will be awarded.

Deadline:

March 18, 2022

Program Guidelines & Priorities:

  • Seeking graduating seniors with an interest in community development and volunteerism. This will be demonstrated through your resume or in your essay.
  • Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Scholarship funds will be paid by September 2022 during the winning student’s first year directly to the college of enrollment and not to the student. It will be the student’s responsibility to submit to LSS, at that time an invoice for second semester tuition and fees, student ID number, and college information. Students will need to submit their name, student ID, and college information as soon as a decision has been made.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated - Phi Omicron Zeta Chapter

Scholarship Application

Requirements for all applicants:

  1. Complete and sign the scholarship application form.
  2. Be a law-abiding citizen. Shall not have committed or been a part of any criminal activity.
  3. Currently enrolled in a Rockdale or Newton County high school and accepted and planning to enroll in a full-time program of studies at an accredited college or university.
  4. Write a 250-word essay describing how upon graduation from college you plan to contribute to your community. Your essay should be typed, double-spaced on standard-sized paper (8.5" x 11") with 1" margins on all sides. You should use a clear font that is highly readable. We recommend using 12 pt. Times New Roman font.
  5. Submit two letters of recommendation in separate and sealed envelopes from someone who can provide insight into the applicants’ work as a student and as to the personal character, potential, and motivation. The first letter must be from a teacher or counsel at the applicant’s school and should refer to the applicant’s ability to successfully complete a college program of study. The second letter should be a personal recommendation from a volunteer, employer, employee, or a clergy.
  6. Submit an official transcript of your grades in a sealed envelope. The transcript must show all test results taken i.e. SAT and/or ACTscores.
  7. Submit a copy of the applicant’s acceptance letter for admission to an accredited college or university.

All documents must be submitted and postmark by March, 31, 2022

Regions Riding Forward® Scholarship Contest – Deadline March 31

Submission Criteria:

To enter, you must submit a 500-word (or less) Written Essay or a 3-minute (or less) Video Essay that addresses how a Black American individual has been an inspiration in your life, and that discusses the contributions of that Black American individual.

High School Seniors:

Regions will award $5,000 scholarships to 30 high school seniors who live in states with Regions full service branches and will attend an accredited college during the 2022-2023 academic school year. (15 scholarships will be awarded for Written Essay submissions and 15 scholarships will be awarded for Video Essay submissions.)

Kaleidoscope Flavorful Futures Scholarship – Deadline April 1, 2022

Applications must meet ALL the following criteria:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States.
  • Must be a high school senior graduating between August 1, 2021 and July 31, 2022.
  • Must have a cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 on a 4 point scale (high school/home schooled seniors).
  • Must enroll for Fall 2022 as a freshman or 1st year student in part-time or full-time study at a 2-year, 4-year, college, university, trade or vocational school. The school must be an accredited U.S. institution, and listed on the official website for the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Must not be a relative or dependent child of an employee of Talking Rain or any of its retail customers.

 

 

Community C.A.R.E.S. Foundation, Inc.® Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Chi Tau Omega Chapter – Deadline April 17

Scholarship applicant must:

  • be a full time student (includes male and female students) at one of the following schools in Newton County – Alcovy High School, Eastside High School, or Newton High School • be a full time student (includes male and female students) at one of the following schools in Rockdale County – Heritage High School, Rockdale High School, or Salem High School
  • have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) and submit an official high school transcript; the transcript must cite the applicant's cumulative grade point average
  • submit a typed essay (see essay topic and criteria listed in application under ATTACHMENTS)

    Topic: Based on financial need, describe how winning this scholarship would impact future plans

    NOTE: Unsigned letters of recommendation will not be accepted; therefore, the application package will be deemed incomplete and will not be considered.

The Grenee McCollum-Dobbs Memorial Scholarship – Deadline April 18, 2022 

The Grenee McCollum-Dobbs Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to 1 graduating senior 

from the Rockdale County Public School System each year. This student can be self-nominated or nominated by a member of the school’s faculty or staff (principal, teacher, counselor, etc.) for odds they’ve overcome, potential they show or hardships they’ve endured. Applications will be accepted starting January 1st of each year and the nomination deadline will be April 18th 

Eligibility Requirements: 

• Applicant must be a graduating senior from one of the public high schools in Rockdale 

County 

• Applicant must be in good standing with plans to attend an accredited college or university 

• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal resident 

Submission Requirements: 

• Completed Application 

• Current Official High School Transcripts 

• Current Contact Information (ex. email address, phone number) 

• Current Contact Information of School Counselor
