Dear Parents/Guardian of Tenth Grade Students,

We share a responsibility to ensure your child is on track for college and career readiness.  With PreACT®, you can get useful information to help your child choose the right high school courses, think about ways to work on areas for improvement, and even begin discussions about their college and career interests. This year, we have chosen to administer the PreACT as one of the first actionable steps your students can take to become ready for college and plan for their futures. Your child may choose to have their information shared with colleges and scholarship agencies when they take the PreACT, which can help them with college recruitment and scholarship possibilities.  At no cost to you, we are administering the PreACT to all 10th grade students on March 16 and 17, 2021, during regular school hours.

Face to Face (Hybrid) Students

Tenth grade students with Monday/Tuesday Face to Face (HYBRID) learning will test Tuesday, March 16th. Tenth grade students with the Wednesday/Thursday Face to Face (HYBRID) learning will test Wednesday, March 17th.

Virtual Students

Parents/guardians of students with the virtual learning option should complete the following link, PreACT Intent Form for Tenth Grade Virtual Students, to indicate that your student will take the PreACT. We request completion of Intent form by 11:59 p.m., March 10th.

Virtual students whose last names begin with the letters A-L will test Tuesday, March 16th. Virtual students whose last names begin with the letters M-Z will test Wednesday, March 17th.  Virtual students in need of RCPS bus transportation will indicate it on the

PreACT Intent Form. Please make certain that students arrive by 8:05 a.m.

Testing will begin promptly at 8:30 AM. Virtual students who are car riders should have their transportation arrive by 12:15 p.m. on the testing day. Virtual students who are using RCPS bus transportation will remain on campus until regular bus dismissal at 3:05 p.m.  RCHS students will test at Rockdale and RMSST students will test at the RMSST campus.  Students with approved testing accommodations will receive them. Students will be socially distanced and required to wear a face covering. Students should bring their own face covering or one will be provided for them.  More information can be found under the Personal Health section of the Return to Campus Guidebook - Rockdale County Public Schools (

We look forward to hearing from you as we plan for the PreACT.  Students should bring two #2 pencils and an approved calculator.  Calculators with built-in or downloaded computer algebra system functionality such as models Texas Instrument TI-89 and TI-92 models are prohibited. Electronic devices such as cell phones, smart watches, fitness trackers, etc. are not allowed and cannot be on or near their person during the test. Students who have electronic devices must turn them in to the proctor or turn them off and place them in a bookbag that will be housed at a designated location until the conclusion of the testing session.

All non-testing 10th  Virtual learning, 9th, 11th, and 12th students will report to their classes as usual unless instructed otherwise by their teacher.

We are confident your student will do his/her best. This is an opportunity to see your student’s potential performance on the ACT® test. To learn more about the test, see the attached infographic, 6 Ways PreACT Helps You, or visit the Why Take the PreACT.
